# What is Hybrid model?

> A hybrid model is a prop firm or broker risk setup that keeps most flow internal (B-book) and routes selected traders or positions to a live market (A-book).

In a prop firm, a hybrid book usually means the evaluation stage and most funded accounts stay simulated, while traders who meet internal criteria have their positions mirrored to a liquidity provider. The criteria might be payout history, consistency, account size or strategy type.

Hybrid models need tooling: a bridge between the platform and the liquidity provider, a risk engine that tags accounts for routing, and reporting that separates simulated payouts from live P&L.

Hybrid setups are also common at brokers that launch prop programs, because they already hold liquidity and risk infrastructure.

## Why it matters

A hybrid model can let a firm pay its best traders more sustainably, but it adds cost, counterparties and contracts. It is an operations choice, not a marketing claim; if you mention it publicly, describe it accurately and avoid suggesting that every funded trader trades live capital.
