# What is Marketing claims?

> Marketing claims are statements a prop firm makes to sell its programs, such as payout totals, pass rates, speed and income; each must be accurate, sourced and not misleading.

In a prop firm, the riskiest claims are about income, capital and certainty: implying traders will earn a typical amount, that the funded account is real capital, or that payouts are assured. Regulators and consumer bodies in several jurisdictions treat misleading income and investment claims as serious.

Safer claims describe mechanics and conditions: the profit split, the payout schedule, the rules, the number of payouts processed in a defined period with a named source. Firm-reported totals should be attributed to the firm, and example payouts labelled not typical.

Claims made by affiliates and creators on the firm's behalf count too, so firms need approved claims for partners as well as for their own pages.

## Why it matters

Every claim on your website is something you may need to prove to a processor, a regulator or a court. Keep a claims register: each claim, its source, its date and who approved it. It also makes your site more credible to traders, who increasingly discount unsourced numbers.
