Consistency rule
- Also called
- consistency score
- best day rule
What it means
In a prop firm, the consistency rule exists to stop one lucky day from passing an evaluation or triggering a payout. It is usually written as a percentage: no single day may account for more than a set share of total profit. If it does, the trader keeps trading until the share falls, rather than failing outright, at most firms.
Firms apply consistency rules to the evaluation, the funded stage, or both, and some apply them only to payout requests. Futures firms and instant funding programs use them most often, because those products have fewer other filters.
Alternatives that serve a similar purpose include minimum trading days, payout caps and a minimum number of profitable days before a payout.
