First suggestionLedger Markets

Start with Ledger Markets. It passes the say-it and spell-it tests and is not close to any firm on our list. Every name below still needs a trademark search, and each card shows the .com to check.

Before you fall in lovethe checks no generator can do
  • Search trademarks where you will trade and advertise: USPTO, UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO.
  • Check the .com, or a credible alternative you would be happy to print, with any registrar.
  • Check the handle on X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Discord.
  • Search the company register where you will incorporate.
  • Ask your formation agent about restricted words such as bank, fund, capital or trust.
  • Say it on a call and ask someone to type it. If they ask how it is spelled, keep looking.

Turn on JavaScript to change the numbers. The result above uses the default inputs.

Name ideas only. Not a trademark search, legal advice or a check of domain availability. A name not flagged here may still be in use.

How it works

Every step, in plain words.

  1. 01

Your inputs (tone, market, shape, length, your word and the words to avoid) are turned into a number, the seed. A seeded generator uses it to pick from curated word lists, so the same inputs always produce the same names.

  2. 02

Names are built three ways: a root word with a descriptor such as Desk or Markets, a root with a market word, and a coined word made from the start of a root and a short ending.

  3. 03

Every name is compared with a list of 54 well-known prop firm names, by shared distinctive words and by spelling similarity. Names that come too close are held back unless you choose to see them.

  4. 04

Each name is also checked for words some countries restrict in company or trading names (bank, fund, capital, invest, securities, trust, broker, exchange, asset), for length when spoken, and for spellings people get wrong, like "ph" or double letters.

  5. 05

The 18 names that pass the most checks are shown first. Domain availability and trademarks are not checked here: the list under the names tells you where to look.

METHODThe formulas and every default, with where it comes from
seed        = hash(tone | market | shape | length | word | avoid)
pick = mulberry32(seed) (same seed, same sequence)
candidates  = root + descriptor | root + market word | coined(root) [+ word]
coined(w) = first 3–4 letters of w, trailing vowels dropped, + ending
tooClose = shares a distinctive word with a known firm
              or Jaro-Winkler(core name, firm) ≥ 0.90
restricted = contains bank, fund, capital, invest, securities, trust,
              broker, exchange or asset
sayable = ≤ 4 syllables; spellable = no "ph", double letters or hyphens
shown = 18 names, fewest warnings first

Questions

Asked about this tool.

What makes a good prop firm name?

It is short, easy to say on a call and easy to type after hearing it once. It is not close to an established firm, it works as a .com or a credible alternative, and it avoids words regulators restrict. It should also still fit if you add markets later, so be careful about naming a single asset.

Do you check trademarks?

No. Before you commit, search the trademark registers where you will trade and advertise: USPTO in the US, UKIPO in the UK, EUIPO in the EU and WIPO's global brand database. A trademark lawyer can run a proper clearance search, which is worth it before you print anything.

Do you check domain availability?

Not yet. Each card shows the .com to check. Search it with any registrar. If the .com is taken, a credible alternative works better than a hyphenated or misspelled .com, and a different name is often better than either.

Why are some words flagged as restricted?

Many countries limit words like bank, fund, capital, trust and securities in company or trading names, because they suggest a regulated activity. Some need permission, some are refused outright. It varies by country, so ask your formation agent before you rely on one.

Why do I get the same names each time?

On purpose. The generator is deterministic: your inputs set the seed, and the same seed always picks the same words. That means you can share the settings with a co-founder and see the same list. Change any input, even the word to avoid, and you get a new list.
