Does a Prop Firm Need Its Own Website?

PipValley builds websites for prop firms, so read this with that in mind. Our honest advice is the same for everyone, including founders who never hire us: spend on audience before polish, and own your site once you have demand to convert.
What are the options?
| Option | Typical cost | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Provider-bundled site | Often included; PropAccount's PropGenie launched June 2026 at no additional fee for its partners | No audience yet; speed matters most |
| Marketplace theme | $29–$159 on ThemeForest | Technical founder, tight budget |
| Specialist freelancer | From about $2,000–$4,000 on Dribbble listings | Small firm with a clear brief |
| Specialist studio | PipValley Launch: $1,490 build, then $49.99 a month | Firms competing for compared traders |
What do traders check on the site?
- A pricing table with every account size, price, rule and payout term on one row, matching checkout.
- One page per rule, with a worked example and the date it last changed.
- A payouts page: cycle, minimum, methods, KYC timing and what makes a request ineligible.
- An FAQ center with one indexable answer per real question.
- Legal pages: terms, risk disclosure, simulated-trading notice, refund and payout policies, restricted countries.
- Honest proof that names its source and period.
Why does ownership matter?
Because platforms change. MetaQuotes in 2024, ProjectX in February 2026 and cTrader's US restriction in July 2026 each forced firms to rewrite platform pages, onboarding, rules and checkout, often in days. A firm that owns its site, domain and content migrates without losing its search rankings. A firm whose site lives inside a vendor starts again.
Bundled sites also share structure with every other firm on the same provider. Traders notice, and so do AI assistants, which quote the pages they can read. If your rules live in a PDF or a pop-up, someone else's page will answer your traders' questions. Our website checklist lists every page, whoever builds it.
Questions
How much does a prop firm website cost?
From nothing for a provider-bundled site to tens of thousands of dollars for an agency build. Marketplace themes list for $29–$159 and specialist freelancers from about $2,000–$4,000, as of October 2026.
How long does it take to build a prop firm website?
A bundled site can be live in days. A PipValley Launch build aims to be live in 5 working days; larger custom builds take several weeks.
Can I use my white-label provider's website?
Yes, especially at launch. Check who owns the domain and content, and whether you can move them if you change provider.
When should a prop firm invest in a custom website?
When you are competing for traders who compare firms side by side, or when your provider's site can't explain your rules, payouts and pricing clearly. Until then, spend on audience first.
