Forex Broker Marketing Plan: Channels and Rules

A forex broker marketing plan for 2026: IB and affiliate programs, SEO, content, Google and Meta ad rules, finfluencer rules and what to measure.

Marketing a brokerage is different from marketing most online businesses, because what you can say, where you can say it and who can say it for you are all regulated. A plan that ignores that will either be blocked by ad platforms or create problems with your regulator.

This guide sets out the channels brokers commonly use, the published rules that restrict them, and a simple structure for the plan. It describes common practice and published policies; it does not report results from any broker.

Start with the rules, not the channels

Write down, for each country you target, what your licence allows and what the local promotion rules require. Then pick channels. These published rules shape most broker plans.

Channel 1: Introducing brokers and affiliates

Introducing brokers (IBs) and affiliates are the traditional growth engine for brokerages. An IB refers clients and is paid a share of trading revenue, usually as a rebate per lot or a share of spread; an affiliate is usually paid per qualified client (CPA) or by revenue share. Most broker CRMs include a multi-level IB module for this.

The plan needs to cover more than rates. Decide how you recruit and vet partners, what they can and cannot say, how you monitor their content and how you stop paying for traffic from countries you do not serve. Under the FCA's FG24/1, a paid influencer's post can be a financial promotion, and the firm working with them is expected to take responsibility for it.

  • Publish an IB page with how commissions work, payment terms and partner rules.
  • Give partners approved creative and a link builder that carries tracking into your CRM.
  • Keep an audit trail of partner content and approvals.

Channel 2: SEO and content

Search is the channel brokers control most directly, and the one least affected by ad restrictions. Trading and investing are "your money or your life" topics in Google's quality rater guidelines, held to a high standard of trust. Content that wins is accurate, clearly sourced and written or reviewed by people with real expertise.

Typical content includes market education, platform guides, account and fee comparisons, glossary pages and local-language versions for each market you serve. Our forex SEO guide covers technical setup, multilingual sites and AI search.

Channel 3: Paid media

Paid search and social can work for licensed brokers, inside the rules above. Google certification is per country, so your campaign structure should follow your licences. Remember that the landing page is checked as well as the ad: risk warnings, entity details and terms must be on it.

Programmatic, financial publishers and sponsorships are common alternatives. Each still counts as a financial promotion where you are regulated.

Channel 4: Retention and community

Acquisition is expensive in this sector, so retention is part of the marketing plan: onboarding emails, education, webinars, platform tutorials, and fast, multilingual support. Every message to clients is still subject to your promotion rules.

What should you measure?

Brokers usually measure marketing by funded accounts rather than sign-ups, because many registrations never deposit. Track each client from first click to first deposit and beyond, by channel, partner and campaign, and keep that data in the CRM rather than in separate ad dashboards.

  • Registrations, verified accounts and first-time deposits by channel.
  • Cost per first-time deposit and payback period by channel and market.
  • Partner quality: share of referred clients who deposit and stay active.
  • Organic search: traffic and sign-ups from non-branded queries.
  • Compliance: number of promotions reviewed, issues found and fixed.

How to structure the plan

Keep the plan short enough to use. One page per market is a good format.

  • Market: country, licence that covers it, language, restricted products.
  • Allowed channels in that market and the approvals each needs.
  • Offer: account types, platforms, fees; no promises of returns.
  • Partner program: rates, rules, monitoring.
  • Content plan: topics, owner, reviewer, update schedule.
  • Measurement: cost per funded account and first-time deposit by channel, tracked from first click into the CRM.
  • Compliance sign-off: who approves what, and how it is recorded.

Where PipValley fits

Every channel above lands on your website, and ad platforms and regulators check the landing page as well as the ad. PipValley builds websites for prop firms and the trading businesses next to them, with tracking that carries campaign and partner data into your CRM; see websites for forex and CFD brokers. Our team operates prop firms; we have not built or marketed a brokerage for a client.

Questions

Can forex brokers advertise on Google?

Yes, in some countries. Google requires CFD and rolling spot forex advertisers to be certified and licensed by the financial authority in each country they target, and ads and landing pages must meet its policies.

Can forex brokers advertise on Facebook and Instagram?

Meta requires advertisers targeting UK audiences with financial products to be FCA authorised, and crypto trading platforms need prior written permission. Other markets have their own rules, so check Meta's current policies for each country.

What is an IB program?

An introducing broker (IB) program pays partners who refer clients, usually a rebate per lot traded or a share of revenue. Brokers run it through an IB module in their CRM and remain responsible for how partners promote them.

Are brokers responsible for what affiliates post?

In the UK, the FCA's FG24/1 guidance says firms working with affiliates and influencers should take proactive responsibility for how they communicate financial promotions. Check the equivalent rules in each market you serve.
