Launching a firm
How Long Does It Take to Start a Prop Firm?
How long a prop firm launch really takes: about 90 days from idea to soft launch, about 30 once the company and platform exist, and what slows it down.

Timelines in vendor marketing measure the part the vendor controls. Founders feel the parts nobody controls: a processor that takes weeks to approve, a lawyer's queue, an affiliate who wants to see the site first.
What does a 90-day plan look like?
- Days 1–20: business plan, lawyer and accountant, jurisdiction, company and bank.
- Days 10–30: platform shortlist and contract, with written answers on who pays traders and how you exit.
- Days 15–35: payment processor applications (high-risk card plus crypto) and KYC vendor.
- Days 20–40: account sizes, prices, every rule with a worked example, payout policy.
- Days 30–60: legal set drafted and reviewed.
- Days 35–70: website: pricing table, rules hub, payouts, FAQ, platform, affiliate and legal pages.
- Days 45–75: platform configuration matching the website word for word; test every breach.
- Days 55–80: affiliates, creators, comparison listings and launch content.
- Days 80–90: soft launch to a small group, first test payout, then open.
What slows a launch down?
- Payment processing: Stripe lists "funded prop trading" as prohibited, so most firms apply to specialist high-risk processors, which take longer.
- Legal review of terms and disclosures.
- Platform risk: if a vendor changes terms mid-build, as ProjectX (February 2026) and cTrader (July 2026) did, rules and onboarding need rewriting.
- Rules that are still changing when the website is being written.
- No audience: a firm can be technically ready and commercially nowhere.
Can it be faster?
Yes, if the company, bank and processor already exist. Our forex and futures guides set out 30-day sprints for that case. Websites can be quick too: PropAccount's PropGenie, launched in June 2026, builds a templated site in a five-step process for its partners, and a PipValley Launch build aims to be live in 5 working days. Speed is fine; skipping the legal review and the breach testing is not.
Questions
Can you launch a prop firm in a week?
The technology can be configured in days on some white labels, but a firm also needs a company, payments, legal documents, a website and traders. Ascetic Capital launched with backing and closed after one week with four sales.
What takes longest when starting a prop firm?
Usually payment processor approval, legal review and building an audience. Technology is often the fastest part.
How long does a white-label prop firm launch take?
Days to a few weeks for the technology, by vendors' own claims, plus the time for legal documents, payments and marketing, which usually set the real launch date.
